Steps for your DIY Light Fixture to Ceiling Fan Project1Electricity needs to be shut down at the source. Do this by switching off the power at the breaker or fuse box. Put a piece of red tape over the breaker or fuse box to warn others that you are working on the electricity. This will keep people from turning on the electricity while you are working on it. 2Take out the decorative center plate that hangs below the center of the fan by removing the screws. Doing this will expose the wiring. 3Most fans are set up for light fixture installation. There are two wires that should be exposed once the center plate is removed. There will be one white and one black wire. Your light fixture should also have a black and white wire. 4The light fixture may have a decorative cap. Remove this cap and take the light fixture’s black and white wires and run them through the hole in the center plate. 5The light assembly needs to be screwed onto the center plate until firmly attached. 6Attach the white wire to the white wire and the black wire to the black wire with wire nuts.
7Now that the light fixture is wired and attached, screw the center plate back on the body of the fan. 8You are ready to reinstall the fan back onto the ceiling with your new light fixtures. 9Turn your power back on and test out the light and ceiling fan to make sure they are running properly.
You have just completed your DIY light fixture to ceiling fan project, as well as saved yourself the expense of purchasing new ceiling fans. Now you can take the money you saved to begin your next project. |
