Hitachi is a company brand name that people are aware of, even though it is perhaps not a brand that is immediately associated with good power tools. Nevertheless, this nailer functions as one of the premier power tools of its type on the market and this is true for a number of different reasons. Nail VersatilityOne of the things that people really seem to like about this particular product is that it has a real range of versatility when it comes to accepting nails. Many nailers will come with a defined range such as the ¾ to 2-inch range that is specified for this product, but as anyone that has used a nailer before can testify the performance tends to dip a bit towards the extremes of that range. Through extensive testing however, it is possible to conclude that this is not a problem with the Hitachi NT50AE2 and for that reason the versatility of the nail sizes that it can accept at peak performance is definitely something to like about it. AdjustabilityDepending on the particular project you are working on, the average clearance for a power nailer might not be good enough in order to allow you to get the position you need in order to get the nails in properly. Since the Hitachi NT50AE2 is primarily intended as a finishing product, it obviously has to do something in order to address this if it wants to be taken seriously. This problem is addressed in the form of a height adjustment that allows you to not only accommodate longer and bigger nails (see previous section), but also allows you to change the position of the nailer relative to the surface. It could come in handy in some projects and it is therefore a nice thing to have. Problem SolvingAs far as power tools are concerned, nailers are the printers of that world. They function smoothly for finishing work, but if something gets jammed they can break down in almost spectacular fashion. The problem solving mechanism that Hitachi has installed on this nailer in order to mitigate those circumstances is actually a jam release that allows you to essentially open the nailer and let the nail drop out. It is a simple solution to solve a common nailer problem. ReliabilityIronically enough, you might not actually end up needing the jam release mechanism because this product is known for its reliability. People have used these products for years and never actually encountered a jamming situation and that is certainly encouraging for anyone that is considering purchasing this product. Final ThoughtsThe Hitachi NT50AE2 nailer is not a perfect power tool as no such product exists. It does however have the ability to deliver quality, versatility and reliability, the three things that people want most out of their power tool purchases. For that reason, it is most definitely a recommended purchase for anyone that does enough handiwork to need a power nailer at their side. |
