Introduction

Dremel is known far and wide for their excellence when it comes to the cordless power tool game.  Their rotary tools have become the stuff of legends in recent years, but it takes more than a good brand name with an excellent history to impress the average person.  For that reason, every new tool they come out with should be examined impartially and separate from the others, which is exactly what this review attempts to do.

First Impressions

The first impressions of the Dremel tool are that it is a high quality rotary power tool that has been built for a specific purpose.  After all, Dremel has a number of these types of products on the market already, so specialization is really the only direction in which they can go if they wanted to make more products.  The specialization angle here is that the Dremel 750-02 is a product designed for “delicate” work.  In other words, it is a product that you can use if you want to polish some delicate jewelry or it is a product that you can use if you have some wood that needs to be whittled away.

Trade-Offs

Of course, polishing and delicate work require an extremely gentle touch and when you are using a power tool, gentle touches do not come without any trade-offs.  The Dremel tool runs at speeds of 5,000 and 10,000 RPM and that means that it lacks the raw power that some of its cousin products have.  You can use this tool in order to accomplish all of your delicate handiwork, but you better not try to use it for anything too intense.  You might be able to accomplish that work in the end, but it probably won’t be the same easy experience you’re expecting from other Dremel products.

Versatility

According to the people at Amazon, they were able to find more than 950 different uses for the Dremel 750-02 before they decided to give up.  The fact that a rotary hand tool with bits that are interchangeable would have a lot of different uses is not particular surprising, but what is surprising is the sheer number.  This tool can be used for almost a thousand different things, ranging from the polishing of a surface all the way to the tightening of a delicate bolt that you do not want to damage.  The more bits that you purchase to use with it, the more you can do with the tool.  In the end, that is certainly an impressive level of versatility.

Final Thoughts

There are many things worth mentioning about the Dremel 750-02, the most important of which have already been discussed above.  While this particular tool is not as slam dunk a recommendation as number one on our list, that is only because of the specialized nature it has.  Definitely purchase this tool if you need a lot of refined and/or delicate handiwork done, but look for something else if you need raw power.  In the end, that is really the main consideration you need to make when considering this particular product.

I bought this to care for the black nails of our dog. I can take very small amounts of nail off at a time, and the nails are smoothed as I go. I started using it on the guinea pig, too, and she likes it much better thatn clippers. The dremel is pretty quiet and runs for 15-20 minutes on one battery charge. It performs exactly as I hoped, and I'm very pleased.

My dog's breeder recommended this model to use for keeping the dog's nails trimmed. Absolutely perfect for filing down her nails. I always put on a pair of gardening gloves (you know how puppies and dogs wiggle) and this cordless wonder works GREAT. Good price, great work. A very good buy.

It is the perfect tool to keep my dogs' nails from overgrowing. Just a few touches on the nails with the tool, my dog gets a treat for being patient about the chore, and the job is done.
