The system chosen for this article has a system built around a master controller, special light switches and plug in lamp modules. The controller will send wireless radio signals that automatically turn on the lights and lamps anywhere in the house, or all of them can be shut off with the touch of one button.

  1. Turn off circuit breaker in the area you will be working. Make sure to indicate somehow on the circuit breaker that this has been shut off for a reason. Do this by adding caution tape or a note taped onto the lid. This will prevent family members from trying to turn it back on while you are working. Do this even if you tell family members, as they could forget.
  2. Remove existing lighting switches and disconnect the wires.
  3. Replace with an electronic dimmer that is able to receive and send wireless radio signals.
  4. Reconnect the wires to the electronic dimmer
  5. Screw on the faceplate of the dimmers.
  6. For every wall outlet that a lamp is plugged into, there should be a lamp dimmer.
  7. The lamp dimmer will install easily and do not require any special wiring. These can be used to control any lighting device that is plugged into the outlet.
