How to Remove Linoleum from Concrete Print E-mail
Written by Stacy G.

To learn how to remove linoleum from concrete is a challenging process; however, it is something that you can do. The actual linoleum is not what makes this project difficult. It is the adhesive that is used to glue it down. Older linoleum floors were glued down with a type of glue that is not like the adhesives on the market today. The glue will dry out and become brittle, which will make the linoleum tiles come up or make the roll out type of linoleum have soft spots.

The older floors with the older type of glue will generally not have a backing like what is used on the newer linoleum and vinyl floors. The good news is if the old glue is brittle, it will be easier to remove. However, if it is smeared onto the concrete thinly, you could have some problems.

Allow a few days to complete this project. While it can be frustrating trying to get the glue off, there are some things you can do that will make learning how to remove linoleum from concrete a little easier.
