What is the process to repairing a rotted roof of a house? If the shingles failed, and the wood under the shingles has rotted away, it can be dangerous with water leakage into the house. This needs to be repaired, and as soon as possible. I'm going to need some help with this.

Start to peel away the roofing shingles and see how far the damage goes. Cut out the section of wood that is rotted. Replace the wood, replace all of the protective under-layers. Replace with new shingles. You should be good to go.

Once you know what you are going to have to deal with, that will give you stress, or relieve your stress. Expect the worst right away. If you go up there and the damage is worse than you expect, you will be happy.

The first thing you have to do, is see how much is the damage. If it repairable or should be replace. It is important to know the difference to avoid further problem.
If you are unsure, then i would recommend calling an expert.

Since both your shingles and your deck, which is the wood under the roofing materials, are trashed, you should probably get the whole thing replaced.

Putting in a new roof, but only replacing the obviously bad areas of the deck, might still create problems as any wood adjacent to the areas of bad deck might also have unseen rot issues.
