I have a good grass area and also some plants in my yard.My problem is with watering this.what is the way if I have to install irrigation sprinklers and drippers in the existing lawn.Since now we are watering with a hose which brings water from other part of the house. That is becoming a tedious job and would like to have some other solutions.

I think you can go in with Solenoid valve which can be set to operated at certain times when required. But the disadvantage is that you have to take cables from the main control panel room to the individual solenoid valve areas. You can have as many as you want and can operate each or more than one at a time as per the requirement. If you can take the wire along this is best

Hai solenoid valves is one of the best ideas you can have for the automatic watering for the garden. But taking the wire all along in a existing garden will lead to more of digging which may spoil the garden area.If you start excavating then it is as good as re doing the garden again. So i dont think that it is good to change to solenoid valve for the garden which is existing

The point good guy suggested is a very valid one.If you start digging for the wires for solenoid you will end up excavating the entire garden. But you do have a solution, you can use the solenoid valves which operates through battery. We can feed the timing for the watering hours and it works with the help of the battery.Only thing is you have to check the battery regurarly
