I have seen people spend fortunes on improving their house. I have always found people buying appliances without any use, spending a lot on improving the house etc. What I want to ask is it normal for us to spend like this??

It probably depends on the reason they are spending. Some people like to invest in improvements in order to increase the value of the home, while others are doing it to make the home nicer in order for it to sell quickly. I think your term "millions" is somewhat excessive and not a common practice among renovations and improvements.

I do agree with caremecarolin's view that people spend fortunes, ofcourse not millions. Normally people when they feel some things cheap they will buy thinking that one day it will be of use to them. That is not advisable some times that one day may not come at all even if comes may be for once. For using for one single time you dont have to buy.This is my opinion.

I'm with sparky in the expense they are making to have a beautiful home.After all they are spending to buy things for the house to make it look more beautiful and this is required to make ourselves fresh and to have presence of mind.If we feel some items are not much needed then we can verywell dispose it.We can spend a little to change our house little every now and then

People dont spend million just like that.The house is the place where we live for most of the time and they want it to be their taste.If we do not like the way our house looks then it will be the worst place in earth.Everyone will try to decorate or to improve their house at their financial level to have a peaceful life,so i dont think it is a waste

Spending on your home is no where a waste.Every time you refresh your home you are not refreshing your home but you are refreshing your self.So it is always better to improve or reorder your house for a change as it is good for your health also i feel.Dont just listen to people saying it as waste.You are going to do at your financial level and so go ahead

to beautify ones home is a reflection of whether you are financially capable of making your home worth a million or less, buying stuff is a choice too if its really needed or just for satisfying what you want. i mean that is your money and you have the right to spend it.

This actually depends on the way you are living and the income of the people, many of them just want to show others what all they have with them and the way they live. Nothing more than that some want to live like a king.

If I had the money to spend millions I would, I love DIY, I love all things nice in my home and to do this it takes so much money, I look at what I do for small amounts of money and it's nowhere near what I really want but until I can afford it I will never have it.

In the area I live, many people are remodeling their homes because every house around here has quite a bit of age to it. The renovation will not only increase the happiness for the inhabitant(s), but as was said earlier, it will increase the house value drastically.

Some people are really passionate about their houses in which they live, they will do the best and keep the best with them in house or in real self. Quite often such people spend huge amount of money for beautification and other luxury items on their houses.

There are also those people that have the expendable income available and would just like the stick it somewhere, or invest it in something. Most of them do choose there house because that is something everyone wants to fix up and have nice.

I'm in the process of updating my house, and I plan on sticking about $15,000 into it over a few years span. I had calculated it should raise the property value about $30,000 to $50,000.

maybe they want to look there house more beautiful that's why some people wants to spend there money just to improve their house they don't matter how much they spent as long as they beautify there house. Some spent for decoration and renovation but there's nothing to say wrong about it...just spend the money wisely and  in a right way.... |

Exactly, as long as the person living in the house is happy with what they have, there is nothing wrong with spending what they want on the house. If they can afford it, why not?

i can understand that people who have the money will try to improve their home as far as they could, cause i believe that when you spend time and take some rest and relax in your home, it would be better if you in a place that is so relaxing and improved..

Because the home is the place, where you want to feel comfortable and relax with you family. It's always pleasant when you come home, and everything is so perfect, comfortable and clean and you can everything you want  |
