When you are renovating or building, are you considering using green alternatives? Meaning are you looking to utilize sources like wind or solar power, or even capturing rainwater to run your water? Why or why not?

That is a nice point made here.I'm already thinking of having a solar power for my water heaters and the lights outdoor. But I wonder if it will work.Definetly it will save a lot of electricity. But cannot think of having rainwater as an alternative for the water source as this could result in scarcity of water.Yes but we can have as an additional support.

I would definetly go with the solar operated things. But what if the sun is not bright mainly during the winter times. That is my main concern.Otherways you can use it confidently.I too not sure of how success the rainwater will go if it is in rainy area it will work not in the area where there is very less rain fall

having that idea is good, but it would depend to the season. we can't used solar if it always rain, but thing for having solar if the sun will not be at its best to shine. it depends also to the area where the weather be suitable to used in going green.

I will definetly go green. It is not only that we can a save a lot on electricity but also to help the environment. If we go green it is good for our earth. If we can manage our electricity needs atleast to some extend that will be a good help to the country.Saving one unit is electricity is as good as producing one unit

I really was interested in adding about 1.5 kilowatts of solar energy to my home until I saw the price tag of about 25,000$ USD. After taking into account tax breaks and incentives by local and federal government and the price of my natural gas / electricity I came to the conclusion it would take FIFTEEN YEARS to break even!
After that I have not considered a major "green" investment in my home.

I have had the options of doing so and I do something which would turn some of them into green ways. I have replaced my water heater with solar power and also my emergency lights to solar panel powered lights.

I only buy CFC light bulbs now. I wait until my regular incandescent lightbulbs die then replace them with the 1/4th to 1/5th less watts but same light output CFC equivalent.
I still have a ton of regular bulbs though, anxiously awaiting for them to blow out so I can replace with something that uses a LOT less energy.

I always consider going green. But going green can be very expensive especially using solar panel. If I can use a solar energy to run some of my appliances that would be a great help on minimizing my electrical expenses.

I have changed all my houses light bulbs and tubes to CFL lamps and they do help me to reduce the power bill. The slight disadvantage I felt about it is that the brightness of the light is a bit less when considered with other's.

I've seen this cool thing on YouTube where an individual took a car battery, hooked it up to an old car alternator, and then hooked that up to a small wind power generator. The batteries all charged, and were ready to be used for any application. You could plug any device into them.

Those people who plug a cell phone, laptop computer, and maybe even a small home device into their wall don't understand how much electricity that draws. If you could charge all of those things from the wind, that would save a ton of money a year.

Interesting point! It is very important today and I also utilize the solar energy. It is really helpful for decreasing my home electricity bill cost. Recently I engaged with my home garden renovation. Any good idea about garden renovation would be appreciated?
Best Regards,

As long as I can, I try to go more green... The best thing about it is that there are lots of benefits that you can get on going green. I also try to get 'energy star' appliances whenever I buy one. I believe that helps a bit.
