Ceramic tiles has been buzzing with the latest trends in fashion of the floors, are they dangerous for kids and elderly people? A little spark of oil will tamper the people on the floor causing injuries and breaks. Do you advise to use it at house where we have children and elderly people?

The problem you are mentioning is with all the tiles. If oil are water are there in the floor then it will cause serious problem not only to kids and elderly people but to all.Apart from these the ceramic tiles tend to break easily if some hard particles.I personally feel marble floors are better in all aspect. It may not break as soon as ceramic. In ceramic tiles if one tile break and if you do not change quickly then it will lead to many damaged tiles..

I do agree with cool plumber that all the type of floor tiles have the problem in addition to all this the ceramic tiles tends to break soon and if that happens it will not end with one it will affected atleast another 2 and to change one tile we may have to damage another one atleast. So the ceramic tiles are not cost effective in this case

i don't go for ceramic tiles too, i've visited a friends house and the kids are playing one get hurt because he dove to the floor. it was easily cracked and now my friend finds a replacement to that, i mean its really not good to have ceramic tile though its clean and very trendy.. but still i wont go for that.

I think ceramic floors are a better option than something like linoleum floors in that if a linoleum floor gets a chip in it, it is not easy to replace. However, if a ceramic tile gets cracked or chipped, you can replace that single tile without any problems.

I installed a ceramic tile floor in my kitcen about a year ago. I'd say whether it's safe or not depends on the texture. If you have a very smooth tile than people are more likely to slip and get hurt. But if you have a rough design with a lot of grooves it will not be as slippery. You also have to look out for what sealer you put on the floor. After you seal a tile floor it becomes much more slippery.

Ceramic tiles are good if they have a bit of texture, their color goes all the way through the tile, and you don't leave huge spaces between them for grouting.

IF you have to have a larger than normal grout line, try to make sure the grout has very little texture, or be sure to seal it to help keep it clean.

Well, they are good. I have been using it for many years.
And it totally depend upon you to how to manage it. Just tell everyone to move with cation on them so that they won't fall on it due to oil or water.

I have ceramic tiles in my bathrooms and in my entrance way. I love them. I think that they are easy to clean. I haven't had any injuries on them and I have 4 kids. I think with any flooring, if it gets wet or oily, there is a danger in slipping.

I have used the ceramic tiles attached to PVC pipes. Ceramic tiles are really durable and very easily to install. Certainly ceramic tiles are good-looking and clean very easily as well. I have ever used the vinigar and water for cleaning and loved the results.
