Wooden doors 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 1
The main door of my residence which is of wood is having a problem since 3 months. It is installed atleast one year back and now it looks like it has loosened and it is touching the floor. It is not closing properly and more over it is damaging the floor. I had fixed a month back and it is starting to come down slightly. Can any one guess what the problem and how to solve?

Hi George, the problem looks simple i think. The hinges might be loose and since the door is coming down. First check the hinges and try to tighten the screws in the hinges. The wood might react to the climate condition and may be because of that also the door may change. So have a look at these and may be these could be the problem

yes its true, wood react to temperature condition i have problems with that too... i just adjust the screws and their good now.and i add oils on the screw bars where it will not be noisy upon closing and opening it.

You will probably have to shave off some of the wood from the bottom, with different temperatures in our homes doors expand and shrink, we put a small piece in behind our hinges and put back on the hinges and it sorted the shrinkage problem.

Well, that happens during rainy season. IT will get back to its normal position soon.
Or may be you need to call the carpenter to tighten them up.
Just see what's the problem and it would be solved.

I think the hinges of the door should be loose, so tighten these.

Exactly The hinges of the door should be loose, so You have to tighten these. Otherwise adds oils in the screws bars. It would be help so.

Yep, the hinges maybe loose that's why the door is coming down the floor. Check it first and if it is not loosen up, maybe the weather change is the issue here. Wood I think contracts on cold days, or vise versa. Not really sure about that.

I think your door's hinges are having not so good quality. You must be replacing them with good quality hinges. This problem is very general and not takes to so much tension.
