As per my experience i would like to share that AC's have no particular or specified age limit. It is just that when your AC stops cooling or perform well and starts giving you trouble than it should be changed. Many people get them changed when they experience low/no cooling, gas leakage, blower not working proper etc. But usually an AC can run for say about 5 years or more.

While replacing AC you should take care of many things as the AC available these days are more advance and also energy saver if you pick the right one. Some of the things are warranty period, company brand, energy consumption, level of energy star (the more the stars the more energy saver the AC is.

There are many appliance store that can help you buy home appliances like Air Condition but you have to select the best, by doing proper research you can save a lot on them.

A little late - but the radio is filled with ads of AC companies that will check it all out and do some basic maintenance for under $100. Just don't sign up for anything on the spot and consider their answer.

You can also consider who will use the AC as well as how big the room is.

For me, you have many things to consider in buying a new air conditioner.. First is you have to choose for the best and affordable one. There are still lots of characters that you have to consider in buying A/C.

Hello,

Air conditioning units will have a significantly different life span depending on the way it is used. Most people don't know how to properly use them or don't have the appropriate unit for their home however it proves to be very important in terms of energy and efficiency.
It is also important to have your unit installed by a professional to avoid leaks or defects.
Having a portable unit has a lot of advantages. It is very easy to install, can be moved from room to room and have friendly prices. Knowing what suits your home best could save you energy and therefore money.
I am sure this will help.

if it's really unusable or if you saw some factor that you can determine that it's already not safe to use that one then you better replace it as soon as possible,.

well i think.. you should keep changing your appliances.. cause the more u keep them the more they cause you trouble they start loosing there efficiency after 5 years or max 10 years.. so that goes with the Air conditioner too.. you should first check the output strength it gives you and then give a thought to replacement or repair

It might be in your best interest to buy an air con which conserves a lot of energy. A lot of the new models these days are part of the energy star standards.

And I think that should go out to all appliances that you need to purchase.
