I think you should use Clorox to kill the germs which might be present in the cooler.
Otherwise you may also use vinegar as i also use it only.
And keep the vinegar for atleast 1 hour and then clean it throughly.

Hello Friends.......

#Take off the water bottle from the cooler. Drain the water from the reservoir. Make sure to drain the hot side also if you have both hot and cold water.
#Use hot water and a mild dish detergent to clean the exterior handles and trays. Wipe down the sides and back of the water cooler.
#Remove the water guard and clean it as well as the area located underneath it. This should just pull right out.
#Unscrew the spigots and wash them with mild dish detergent and warm water. Dry thoroughly.

Thanks

Well I think this should answer your question.

I only use the normal method of cleaning a cooler and dry it after wards and install it on our cabinet for future use.

You can also checkout related cleaning products on various packaging sites.
Cooler cleaning tips:

1. Use hot water and soft dishwashing liquid to clean the outside of the water cooler and dry it up with a soft towel.
2. Wet the sponge into the bleach and clean the inside of cooler, and leave it for 2 to 3 minutes (not more than that) and dry it afterwards.
3. For drip tray cleaning, wash them with soft washing liquid, water and after completion of cleaning process, dry them with a towel.

Note: Make a bleach solution by using one tablespoon of “odorless bleach” and mix them with one gallon of water

Hi
Here are some stuff to clean a cooler :
Disconnect the cooler's power cord from the outlet. Make sure your hands are dry when you do this.
Take off the water bottle from the cooler. Drain the water from the reservoir. Make sure to drain the hot side also if you have both hot and cold water.
Use hot water and a mild dish detergent to clean the exterior handles and trays. Wipe down the sides and back of the water cooler.
Remove the water guard and clean it as well as the area located underneath it. This should just pull right out.
Unscrew the spigots and wash them with mild dish detergent and warm water. Dry thoroughly.
Put the water cooler back together and let it air dry before plugging it back in. Allow at least 30 minutes for the water to heat up if you have a hot water feature on your cooler.

step 1
Time the cleaning of the water cooler when your water container is empty or very close to it. These can be very heavy to lift. You also may lose a lot of water due to spillage.

Step 2
Disconnect the cooler's power cord from the outlet. Make sure your hands are dry when you do this.

Step 3
Take off the water bottle from the cooler. Drain the water from the reservoir. Make sure to drain the hot side also if you have both hot and cold water.

Step 4
Use hot water and a mild dish detergent to clean the exterior handles and trays. Wipe down the sides and back of the water cooler.

Step 5
Remove the water guard and clean it as well as the area located underneath it. This should just pull right out.

Step 6
Unscrew the spigots and wash them with mild dish detergent and warm water. Dry thoroughly.

Step 7
Put the water cooler back together and let it air dry before plugging it back in. Allow at least 30 minutes for the water to heat up if you have a hot water feature on your cooler.

Cleaning Cooler is not so difficult as it seems, first you should take out all the water that is present in the cooler and make it dry. keep it under sunlight if possible, also take out the pads (cooler stuffing on the sides) as they must be spoiled already and you need to get new ones nest year (recommended to change them every year). After that when completely dry and clean without dust you can cover it and keep it in safe place.

first things first

You have to clean it thoroughly..

Keep it dry or put something that would make it clean for a long time.
